I have a confession to make. For the better part of the last two years and up until recently I had completely and actively convinced myself that I wasn’t a family portrait photographer, nor did I want to be. I told myself that I needed to focus on my main passion of weddings. Given I have had a few stiff, brief family sessions while contracting for other companies I literally have no reason to not be a family photographer. In fact, one of my absolute favorite parts of the wedding day is all the family love! I am officially branching out to photograph some family sessions this year and I want to give credit to this wonderful family for reminding me how much I love capturing moments between people. When Stephanie found me on Instagram and told me she loved the candid nature of my photos and how important it was to her to have annual photos with her family taken I knew right then we would get along great. She and her family were coming from Florida over Thanksgiving and wanted to have Boulder family photos taken. Not unlike Colorado the weather was warm and beautiful and can I just say that Stephanie her family were dressed to sheer perfection?? I also have to comment on how much I ADORE Stephanie’s glitter skirt, handmade by Glitter Fox LA.
I have so many warm and fuzzies thinking back on these Boulder family photos because of the fun and natural vibe of the morning! I loved that we created an environment like this that allowed for everyone to be themselves and for me to capture the real family dynamic and each individual personality. Additionally, we got golden hour light mid-morning which was a rare and beautiful first for me!
